Everything You Need to Know About CBD Coffee

CBD products are becoming a norm as the demand for hemp products has increased over the years. We’re seeing a lot of items that contain CBD in our near-the-corner superstores.

CBD coffee is just another example of this. Since we drink and enjoy coffee every morning (and afternoon), it’s no wonder why CBD coffee is becoming a new trend for “hippies” to indulge the health benefits of CBD while enjoying a hot cup of caffeine. But, is it really worth it?

That’s what we are trying to find out in this article. So, without further ado; let’s hop in!

Why CBD Coffee Makes Sense

Research has proven that CBD is an anti-inflammatory substance. Some studies have also confirmed that CBD helps reduce symptoms like anxiety, depression, stress and insomnia.

This may be why people want to sip in the health benefits of CBD coffee because a lot of us face these psychological problems on a day to day basis. And it CBD coffee can help alleviate that; wouldn’t it make our lives a lot better and healthier? In our opinion, it sure will.

This study also claims that mixing CBD with coffee might help reduce the “side-effects” of coffee like shaking or irritability ‒ thanks to the neuroprotective properties that CBD owns. At least that is what people who consume CBD coffee are saying on the internet.

We’re also seeing it becoming a popular trend in United States’ busiest city, New York, where a coffee shop owner is offering CBD coffee and enjoying the hefty revenue he’s getting from it.

According to him, “one-third of his revenue comes from CBD infused coffee alone”. That’s a lot!

Now, aside from all the hype, what benefits would you get if you drink CBD coffee?

Let’s talk more about that:

The Nifty Benefits

Although CBD coffee sounds more like a “fad” than an actual healthy hot beverage, it does come with some healthy perks that you should take a look at. For example:

  • You instantly feel relaxed after drinking CBD coffee whereas with traditional coffee, you don’t. You also get to enjoy its long-term benefits on your endocannabinoid system. This system controls your mood, hunger, sleep, and memory. Drinking CBD coffee regularly can also help promote and balance the processes of the endocannabinoid system.

  • You might not know this but coffee is filled with a powerful punch of antioxidants. If you didn’t know, antioxidants help reduce free radicals, found in our body, that promote cellular damage and disease. CBD has the same punch to it as well. Combine both together and you get to enjoy a mighty antioxidant-rich hot beverage.

  • While this might not be a sole benefit to you, when you drink CBD coffee, it helps the community of cannabis industry, to promote awareness of its benefits, healthy use, and its potential to be recognised as a potent medicinal herb that is clouded by drug abuse. The more CBD is used, the more research can be done to put its real value into trial.

The Clumsy Drawbacks

With great benefits, comes great drawbacks. At least, that’s the case with CBD coffee. The CBD infused hot beverage is, indeed, gaining a lot of attention in the western world. Even big names like Ellie Nelson is getting on the action but, as we said, there are drawbacks to this charming drink that you should watch out for. Here are some of them that you should definitely look at:

  • CBD doesn’t go well with heat: Let’s just say that CBD is like putting ice in a hot cup of coffee. They don’t go very well together. It’s because CBD loses its potency once it makes contact with something very hot. You still manage to get its benefits as a coffee, but, not as much other alternative products containing CBD oil.

  • Watch out for dosing: CBD acts differently in different doses. For starters, a low dose of CBD will act as a stimulant, giving you a more sedative feeling. While a heavy dose can cause drowsiness, despite drinking it with coffee. This is why you should ask your barista, to tell you how much potent the CBD coffee is, especially if you’re a first-timer.

  • Give it some time: Thinking of drinking multiple cups of CBD coffee in the morning? Not a good idea. You’ll be wasting CBD’s health benefits because it works best if it’s taken periodically i.e. giving it some time to travel around your body ‒ at least a few hours.

Our Verdict

Since CBD coffee is a very new trend, we still don’t know whether we should recommend our readers to try it out or not. Other CBD products are more potent, more researched and work a lot better at relieving symptoms like anxiety, depression, insomnia, muscle pain, etc.

This is why, it’s probably a good idea to stick with CBD supplements that are proven to work and give CBD coffee a little bit of time, until we know for sure how good it works for symptom relief.
